This is a very engaging episode on the journey with music composed by three different recording Artist. Lina Hayek sings beautiful vocals on original lyrics with poeticD stretching his vocal skills in a duet! Schyler O’Neal composes another original poeticD song with lyrics written by poeticD. Finally, acclaimed recording Artist Thomas Dawson and poeticD performing spoken word for When We Kiss. This is a classic piece that is also available on iTunes.
The journey takes a moment to share a thoughts written in a letter to a college friend after seeing them only once in 35 years! The theme continues with poetry that assures other friends they are just a thought away and a letter written by the author to himself!
The journey rises with a powerful voice of compelling lyrics, vocals and music! My Brothers Keeper is a song written about a National initiative supporting young men of color across the Nation by President Obama. Music is by the amazing recording Artist Rick Whitfield and lyrics by poeticD. I Am Praying for You Alabama was written after a visit to the African American Museum in Montgomery Alabama in 2018. A plaque in the Museum read that in the state of Alabama it is illegal for a Black Child and a White Child to attend school together! In 2004 the State Legislators voted to keep it that way. In 2012 they again voted to keep it that way! Reading this was heart breaking and evoked powerful emotions.
The journey shares a rare opportunity to hear lyrics that were written come to life with the voice of poeticD! Though he admits that being a vocalist is not his strength, the renditions of three original songs written from the heart are a special effort.
